Navid Gohari

Navid Gohari (b. 1983, Tehran) is an Iranian conductor. He started his music education at the age five with violin. He graduated from Tehran Conservatory of Music in 2009 with an emphasis in composition under supervision of Prof. Marina Aghabegian. In 2014 he completed the “Fundamentals Rehearsing Music Ensembles” courses authorized by Dr. Evan Feldman at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Hi Founded Nilper Orchestra in 2004 in Tehran, with the main focus on contemporary classical music of the world. In 2013 his performance of selected orchestral music of Peteris Vasks granted him special mentioning and encouragement from the composer himself. He has ever since performed various repertoire by composers such as Arvo Part, Henryk Gorecki, Wojciech Kilar, Giya Kancheli, Erkki Sven Tuur, John Adams, Philip Glass, and from Iranian composers music by Idin Samimi Mofakham, Alireza Mashayekhi, and Hooshyar Khayam among others.

Together with his colleague and associate Mr. Ehsan Tarokh, Mr Gohari has established the Contemporary Music Circle of Tehran Museum of contemporary art (CMC., TMOCA) where he is engaged as Artistic Director since 2015.

Navid Gohari is today active as the director of CMC.TMOCA, the director of Classic Studies at “Navayeamin Music Academy”, Music director of “Beyn Theater Group”, and the artistic director and principle conductor of Nilper Orchestra.
